Our open house was tremendous success. Students did a magnificent job on their life cycle of animals keynote projects. We showed them on a slide show Thursday evening. Everyone was very proud, especially Ms. Horwitz, of all the students who worked so well together. We are on final countdown to the California State Test. Students are ready and able to show their proficiency on this assessment. Also, there will be a choral singing concert on May 9th for students to show off how much they have learned from Mrs. Smith, their singing teacher, this past trimester. I can't believe the year is almost ended. In math we are learning geometry and three digit addition and subtraction. We are now studying in depth our final English language arts genre, my favorite, poetry. Our students will be using "Mary Had a Little Lamb" as a springboard for their own verse. In these last two months of school, we will learn a great deal and have much fun!
Poets are the doctors of the soul! I believe in the power of poetry to change lives and heal cultures. Everything is in bloom, even my apricot tree. The Jacarandas are getting ready to spurt their purple passion onto the land. Pink, white, violet, and rose splash across fences, while yellows and oranges peek on ground. What a lovely way to refresh on spring break with the flowers calling our names! Our ELA benchmarks are looming after our vacation, and before you can blink your eyes, the CST will follow. Our students are smart and hard-working, so all will be fine for Nuffer Elementary. |
